Prebiotics and probiotics for digestive health

Food components and natural ingredients with proven benefits for human health and well-being are in strong demand by consumers. Our research into the nutritional and health-promoting properties of various food ingredients provides the scientific validation needed to make health claims for natural products containing bioactive components.

We also provide independent advice and are actively involved in technology transfer in the food industry and in areas related to developing health-promoting products. Our research strengths include dietary fibre (especially digestion resistant dietary fibre which may have prebiotic effects), probiotics and bioactive product development. Extracts and biomolecules with promising outcomes for health and wellbeing are also screened for efficacy to determine if there is potential for commercial development.
